Members of Durango Fire Protection District,
Due to the phone calls and burn permits being issued this
week, we anticipate that there will be an unusually high number of agricultural
burns and controlled burns occurring this weekend.
The weather reports indicate that temperatures will be in
the mid-50's with winds up to 12 mph and RH at 12 to 16%. We all know
that this weather report may change.
The Community Education Coordinator has been on the radio
and at community meetings discussing open burn permitting and how to burn
safely. The agricultural community is indicating that their fields are
beginning to show signs of green-up and therefore they need to burn ASAP.
The irrigation ditches will be turned on over the next 3 weeks so any burning
of the ditches will also begin this weekend.
